Campaign Values

I am running for Wyoming City Council because I believe local government functions best when residents feel informed, heard, and connected to the decisions that affect their daily lives.
Like many residents, I have experienced situations where communication from local government could have been clearer and more responsive. Those experiences reinforced my belief that transparency and community engagement are essential to creating our city. We are in a very unique position to design and structure a downtown to represent us. I want to see more of our culture and people in the design. Wyoming residents should not only know what is being created, but also have a hand in making it happen.
My goal is to help create a city government that residents can trust and feel connected to. I believe residents deserve a representative who will listen, communicate openly, and work collaboratively to solve problems and I will prove that every day as your City Council member.

I believe our city has incredible potential that deserves to be celebrated and shared.
Wyoming is the largest suburb of Grand Rapids, yet too often people simply pass through our community on their way somewhere else. I want to help change that. I want Wyoming to be known not only as a great place to live, but also as a place people choose to visit, explore, and experience.
Years ago, Studio 28 brought people from across West Michigan into Wyoming. While that era has passed, the spirit behind it remains important: creating destinations, experiences, and community spaces that draw people together.
Our city has more than 600 acres of parks and green spaces. We are home to residents from many different backgrounds, cultures, and languages. Nearly a quarter of our residents speak a primary language other than English, bringing unique perspectives, traditions, and experiences that enrich our community every day.
I envision a Wyoming that embraces its diversity, celebrates its parks and public spaces, supports local businesses, and showcases the people who make our city special. By strengthening communication, encouraging community involvement, and investing thoughtfully in our future, we can build a city that residents are proud to call home and visitors are excited to discover.
Most importantly, I want residents to feel connected to their local government and to one another. When people feel heard, informed, and engaged, our entire community becomes stronger.

Residents deserve timely, accurate, and understandable information from their local government. I want to improve communication between City Hall and residents by increasing accessibility of city information, and providing clear updates on projects and decisions. My goal is to strengthen public trust through openness and accountability.
-
Strong neighborhoods create a strong city. I want to support neighborhood efforts to keep their communities safe. I will encourage community pride through local events and keeping our parks and public spaces clean, safe, and beautiful. I don’t just want to preserve Wyoming’s quality of life – I want to enhance it for all of us together.
-
Strong communities are built when residents feel heard, respected, and involved in local decision-making. I want to provide meaningful opportunities for residents to participate in local government through expanding opportunities for public input and encouraging civic participation. I want to improve outreach efforts in the community so that we can build stronger relationships between residents and city leaders.

Investing in our community means investing in the places we live and the things we rely on every day. Wyoming is continuing to grow, but has aging roads, sidewalks, utilities, parks, and public facilities. Balancing these concerns will require responsible planning and investment. I intend to listen to what our community wants most while keeping an eye toward long-term planning to ensure our tax dollars are invested where they will have the greatest impact on our daily lives.
